Blog 3: The Wind That Shakes
The Barley Review
I’m not a “war drama film”
kind of person, so I didn’t enjoy that much the movie. However, I can appreciate
the historical importance of the story and plus now I have a closed idea of the
Irish culture and history.
My favorite characters were
Damien and Sinear. I think that the construction of Damien character is very
realistic and human, showing his insecurities and doubts at first and then his
loyalty and determination, I can relate to those emotions. And on the other
hand I’m a big fan of strong females characters, so I really liked the role of
Sinear, who gives another perspective to the story and also showed the
importance of women in the Irish history.
A thing that I really like
about the film was the photography and the locations, I never seen pictures of
the Irish lands before, so that was pretty amazing.
My favorite scene was one at
the beginning of the movie, when an old lady sings at the funeral of Damien’s
friend who died on hands of the British, I think it was really pretty and
emotional, just as her voice.
